Today was good =)

Met Xan, Alex and Katy at the office and caught up a bit first =) Then we headed out to the Northern Quarter on search of cafe's for the poetry afternoon!

We stopped at the Koffee Pot first and explained who we were and what we were planning to do etc and the guy working there said it sounded amazing and gave us the managers number to ring as he couldn't yes (but we all knew he wanted to haha). But they are open for hire for things like this =)

The next stop was not so pleasant. We arrived at Teacup to find the place heaving. We approached the podium and when asked if we'd found a table, I tried to explain that we were there to enquire about hiring the venue and began to explain who we were and I was cut off with "Sorry love, I'm trying to run a business here". To which i asked, would it be possible to hire this venue on a Sunday afternoon for a poetry event and get in touch at a later date and he replied "Sunday's our busiest day and the takings are around £3000, unless you've got three grand to throw at us" and wandered off. I said thank you and we left. We weren't very impressed.

BUT

On a GOOD note =)

We then arrived at Earth Cafe and spoke to the manager on site and she was lovely =) We explained who we were, what we were planning to do and she showed us a huge grinning smile =D
She said their events manager, Dominic Bury (a well known Manchester poet) would love it as he already puts on events there called 'Rhyme and Dyme' (i think it was dyme, it could have been dine, i was too excited!).
She took my contact details and a flyer and said she'd get him to get in touch asap and took the dates we'd planned on for August! And said a Sunday afternoon sounded fine =)

We finished there as it had been an hour but we were very happy and took things positively and thought we'd found some good places for the start. Will try and nip in to Nexus tomorrow if there is any free time to do so =)

Yep, i know Dom and have heard a lot about the Rhyme and Dines. Earth Cafe would be ideal, just the space is a bit small for what we are really planning. Let's see what Nexus say
