Really liked the way the meeting was organised today, works very well. Also I've done a draft of the explanation about cosplay, though of course I know it can be improved but I tried to get the main idea of it down:

"Cosplay is short for ‘Costume Play’, whereby people dress up as characters usually from Anime, Manga and games; however it can also be from films, comics, television series, books, J-Pop/J-Rock and even Japanese Lolita fashion. The costumes may be bought, altered clothing or made from scratch. It can even inspire people to create their own characters or outfits. Cosplayers essentially role play such characters either for an accurate representation or for having fun with other cosplayers by interacting with each other as if they were that character, which may lead to creating skits. It is a very sociable activity as it is usually done at conventions or personal meet ups with friends."

Just added bits in, but it's really good Abi. Pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Hi guys :)

Thought I'd post up what happened in todays meeting :)

This meeting was to decide an allocate job roles for the volunteers within both preperation for the event and job roles for the actual event.

Discuss what each of the jobs offered require.

Discuss and decide if there was any training necessary for any of the roles.

Here are the outcomes:

Regarding the actual event:

Katie and Petey will be on the door alongside a PYW.
Nathaniel will be the announcer as well as a judge for the Masquerade.
Ric will also be a judge for the Masquerade.
James Graham (Rayne) is organising the music for the event as well as the masquerade entries.
Sam will be monitoring the games corner.
Abbi will be monitoring the art corner.
Adam and Joshua (Vamp) will be in charge of buying food for th event.
Susan will be planning the Name that Anime Quiz.
James Bird will be stwearding the event.
Jenn is organising the Masquerade entries.

In regards to preparing for the event:

Jenn will be pricing the backdrop for the Cosplay Photo Corner as well as opening up the entries on the website for the Masquerade.
Abbi will be pricing the Manga Pens.
Joshua will be pricing up the art materials needed.
Adam will be pricing the games frustration and uno.

Possible training was discussed but nobody felt it was necessary.

There are still job roles available for the event and preparing for it. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you missed the meeting but would still like to take part :) we can still allocate more volunteer roles !

The next meeting will be Saturday 7th August at 2pm :)
Also held at our office (the Greenfish Resource Centre)
If you arent sure where this is, please dont hesistate to get in touch !

Next weekend myself and the volunteers will be going to the venue to plan the layout of the room for the event.
Risk assessment to be wrote out whilst at venue.
Prices that have been collected put on a budget form.

See you then ! :)

Okay re-found the prices for the manga pens, there are 3 sets for each pack size, each having a different set of colours, at Fred Aldous it's £8.99 for a 6 pack of Letrset manga pens, £14.68 for a 10 pack of Letraset ‘comic art’ pens.
At Argos, a pack of Uno cards costs £4.75 and Frustration costs £9.99

Yes, its very close to the office, if you go left from the office, go down the Hilton Street on the left, into Stevenson Square and to the right, on the corner of Lever Street is Fred Aldous and the manga pens are found in the basement floor.

It is amazing! I always go there for art stuff and they do give student discount if you have a student discount card or a in date college card.
Top floor is where the sales stuff are as well as easels, sketchbooks, paints, cameras, activity packs and other bits, downstairs is everything else which there is quite a lot.

It depends on what you are expecting to get from Abakhans for prizes, a gift voucher would be good but when looking on their website the only ones i saw were for workshops from £15 upward. Still worth checking in the store just in case.
