Firstly, a big thanks to everyone that volunteered, including bands, at this event and to those who came along and took part!

Where?: The office
When?: 3pm - 4pm
Date: Saturday 7th August 2010
This is for all the volunteers and bands and for anyone who came to the gig who would like to take part in future events or just have a general input on how they felt about it =)

Well I was happy to see a big turn out at this debrief =)
Laura, AJ, Jennie, Kim, Raven, Vicky, Katya, Drake, Dougle, Kyle, Sam and Xan attended.
It's good to get feedback on the positives and negatives!
We started with the good points of the gig to recollect some good memories:
- Venue was nice
- Sound quality was better than the academy
- Raven was happy he didn't drop his guitar
- There was toilet roll in the toilets and the doors shut properly
- There were seats on the toilets
- There were comfy sofa's and the venue was laid back
- Dougle and Katya liked that they had more control of the sound this time on the P.A.
- Didn't have to chuck anyone out for being drunk!
Then we moved on to the bad points:
- Not enough people attended
- Lack of equipment - Microphones didn't work, bass pedal was missing from the drum kit (that we hired)
- Stage wasn't level
- Jennie couldn't make it
- Small crowd
- Lack of P.A. equipment - some of it didn't work properly
- Minimal rock and roll atmosphere
- Lack of volunteers
- Bands being bitchy about each other
- One microphone fell to bits
- Mixing desk was broken which affected Dougle and Katya being able to manage the sound properly
- Katya and Dougle left on own at end to clean most of the things up themselves
- Less of a community
- Vicky though community was better at Satans Hollow
After looking at the bad points, we reflected on them to discuss what we could to improve for the next gig:
- Two people to run the project instead of one (i.e. two peer youth workers or managers) this could also be two volunteers running the project with a peer youth worker or supervisor supporting them.
- Twitter account with regular updates
- Facebook page for live music volunteers (we already have - volunteers add UA on facebook and then Claire can invite them to facebook page)
- Flyers for advertisment
- Sell tickets
- Then Xan mentioned the idea of it being free! Instead, have donations taken in a fundraising bucket for UA. "Coupled with higher promotion, the attendance is much higher, even though the gig itself is cheaper to the punters, the amount of money taken is much greater"
- Posters made as well as flyers:
This would include Band names - Genre - 'Listen here: Myspace/facebook' - contact details to find out more
Blurb on UA and the Live Music Project and volunteering
Pictures of bands and previous gigs
- Focus on doing a Halloween Gig
- Look for a flyer printing place in Manchester where you can pick the flyers up instead of having them delivered.
- "If we have an email list where people can apply. Or hand out flyers where they can add our facebook (little pieces of paper with the facebook on it!) Leaflets at the gigs where they can sign their name, email and even get a membership card? More likely to keep hold of it. This could give them 50p discount for every gig?
- Stickers with UA written on and on the back, advertise where the next gig/website/facebook with 50p off next gig?
- Flyer on picadilly, in shops, Urbis, facebook, Satan's, stand outside venues and flyer to punters, rock kitchen etc. Uni's too!
- Sandwich board!
- T-shirts - volunteers wear to promote
- £3 no more, in future. This was a big turn-away
- P.A. - use another distributor in future
- Bands should arrive at the same time
- Line check every band going on stage
- CD player!
- For the lack of community, take volunteers out for a team building day/ half day?
- Xan - bass teaching! And recording!
